I don't play the hero or anything, my group is a fucked up but of sociopaths who rob, torture, kill and play games with our victims, all of which is allowed in the rules. This is a video game within a community where people constantly complain about the lack of population within the server and when things get introduced by players to potentially try out to help the population grow it’s always the same old shit from people that don’t enjoy playing majority of the time anymore.I play on this server and I can give you my point of view. Im tired of seeing this “but in real life” or “I’m online when I’m raid” argument. If the owner/owners of said base you’re trying to get into isn’t home then you can’t raid the place, this forces RP between parties and allows for stories to develop. If you want to have a hub you’ll have to get creative or simply hang around an area, you don’t need walls to have a hub (Livonia Soup Kitchen)ģ.

Removal of base building entirely goes against the incoming new players of DayZ and appeals mostly only to veterans that have very little interest left in playing on the server or will leave at the tiniest slight against them or their friends. I'm not saying it's an instant fix that will boost the player count to the levels of the 'good old days' I hear about but I believe it would at least return to pre-Chernarus levels which is still more than double what it currently is. The vast majority of newer players I know were put off by Chernarus and I know for a fact (through knowing and speaking to many of them) that going back to Nyheim in combination with something like Eagles suggestion would bring many of them back and make more new players stay longer.

It has its quirks, a lot of it lore related, and definitely needs fleshed out more but it's a great base. Nyheim lends itself to roleplay far better than Chernarus does and promotes interaction.

I have had more fun in 2 days of playing the public server than I have in all of Chernarus since the switch. I like Nyheim itself, infinitely more than Chernarus, and in general so do most new players. The current crop of new players are looking for some form of base building and tougher raiding, that's just the reality of it. The map isn't the main issue and the server needs to attract new players.
